Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonary Function Lab

Location: Bemidji, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Minimum 1 year of experience in a pulmonary function lab
Ability to perform pulmonary function tests on patients aged 5 and older

Job Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic pulmonary function tests including:
- Spirometry
- Diffusion testing
- Lung volumes
- Airway resistance
- Respiratory muscle forces
- Bronchial provocation testing
- Home oxygen evaluations
- Six minute walk tests
- Arterial blood gases
Administer respiratory therapies as needed
Educate patients on medication and equipment use
Calibrate, clean, and maintain diagnostic equipment
Recognize and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
Additional duties include outpatient six minute walks, home oxygen evaluations, pentamidine nebulizations, and sputum inductions

Work Environment & Equipment

Pulmonary Function Lab with two PFT machines
Each room sees approximately 5-6 patients per day
Equipment used:
- Omnicell Medication System
- EPIC EMR
- MGC Diagnostics Platinum Elite Plethysmography PFT machine

Schedule & Work Conditions

Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
No weekends or on-call required
No floating to other units or departments
Dress code: Grey scrubs

Orientation & Training

Must be already trained in pulmonary function lab procedures
One week (40 hours) of training provided, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
