Job Opportunity: IR Technologist (Interventional Radiology)

Job Description

• Prepare procedure suites and ensure radiation safety setup
• Calibrate and troubleshoot fluoroscopy and hemodynamics monitoring equipment
• Pull supplies, set up sterile tables
• Scrub in and assist physicians with procedures including device exchange, guidewire manipulation, catheter placement, balloon and stent deployment
• Manage radiation dose and imaging angles
• Clean, restock, and turnover procedure rooms

Typical Procedures and Patient Types

• IR: Port placements, liver biopsy, IVC placements, G-tube placements, PICC & central line placements, neuro procedures (coiling, thrombectomy, embolizations) with anesthesia support
• Vascular: Femoral-popliteal bypass, AAA repair, carotid procedures, EVAR, angiograms, and more

Work Environment

• 7 procedure rooms total (4 Cath Lab/EP & 3 IR/Vascular)
• Average 20+ cases per day across all rooms
• Use of EMR systems: Merge, Cerner
• Equipment includes Siemens imaging systems

Schedule & Call Requirements

• 4 ten-hour days per week (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) plus call; rotating day off
• Option to work 5 eight-hour days (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Weeknight and weekend call rotation approximately once every 3 weekdays and once every 3 weekends (Friday through Monday)
• Holiday call may be required
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Orientation: 2-3 full days of training/shadowing, buddy call first two weeks before working independently

Staffing

• IR team: 1 RN, 2 Techs, anesthesia supports neuro cases
• Cath Lab and EP teams also present but focus is IR/Vascular Tech role

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience (highest required years of experience)
• Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
• Must be able to work hybrid for vascular cases
• Prior employment at this facility disqualifies candidates unless last worked there at least 6 months prior

Additional Information

• Provided scrubs; own scrub caps allowed
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Department will not accept previous employees returning within 6 months
