Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) - Labor Pool

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Med/Surg Registered Nurse for day shifts on a 17-week contract. This position is part of a labor pool with floating assignments across various units including Ortho/Neuro, Oncology, Acute Care, and others. Flexibility with changing assignments during shifts is required.


Unit

  • Labor Pool
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
  • Nurse aides available (CNA ratio generally 1:8 to 1:10)
  • Telemetry monitored on different units
  • Floating required

Shifts

  • 12-hour shifts starting at 06:45
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Low census on-call requirement
  • Holiday rotation with permanent staff

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support) or NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) for Med/Surg

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of Med/Surg nursing experience without travel, OR
  • 2 years of experience plus completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment

Orientation & Training

  • Floor-specific orientation provided
  • Charge nurse assigned on all units

Patient Care & Equipment

  • Ventilators: BIPAP, CPAP (only at higher specialty units), Vapotherm, Draeger
  • IV Team: None, but PICC lines available
  • Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
  • Pharmacy available 24/7
  • OB/Neonatologist in-house
  • Common diagnoses vary by unit; Med/Surg nurses float to multiple specialty areas

  • Must be flexible with changing assignments during shifts
  • Scrub color: Caribbean Blue

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia

  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) or National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
