Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU/PCU

Location: Prescott Valley, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00 or 19:30–07:30), 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Friday & Saturday nights, Saturday & Sunday days)
Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly
Call/Standby: Rotating standby if low census

Unit Details

• Multi Care Unit combining ICU, PCU, and Med Surg Trauma (MST) patients within one unit (10 beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity:

  • ICU: 1:2
  • PCU: 1:4
  • MST: 1:5-6 (or 1:3 primary care if no nurse aide)
• Nurse aides support 10-15 patients; if no aide, RN provides primary care to PCU & MST patients
• Respiratory Therapy support available (vents, BiPAP, CPAP)
• Remote Monitor Techs for PCU & MST patients; RNs monitor ICU patients and perform 12-lead EKGs
• Charge Nurse oversees 50 inpatient beds including MST, Pediatrics, and the acuity adaptable MCU unit

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Medical ICU: Sepsis, suicide attempts, drug/alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID-19, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), abnormal blood pressure or heart rate, post-op complications
• PCU: Patients on non-titratable infusions to maintain heart rate or blood pressure

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required
• Candidates with 1 year ICU + 1 year PCU/Med Surg experience from larger facilities may be considered if skills are strong
• RNs must be able to titrate drips (sedation, vasopressors, insulin)
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing (failure results in 6-month disqualification)

Certifications & Licenses

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Valid RN license for Arizona

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Candidates must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with a specific health system within the past 12 months
• Radius rule: must live within 50 miles of the facility
• Floating required to Emergency Care MST, Pediatric units (adult MST assignments), and West Campus ICU/PCU with 2-hour notice to maintain competency
• Dress code: Any scrub color except camouflage
• Orientation includes hospital and unit-specific training based on shift and float assignments
