Overview

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Surgical Technician (1 year of experience)
- Surgical Technician experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NBSTSA
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or eligible for certification
Role Responsibilities
- Assist with surgical procedures in scrubbing duties
- Prepare and maintain sterile supplies
- Create and maintain a sterile field
- Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening
- Anticipate equipment and supply needs before the case begins
- Ensure all equipment is functioning before use
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and air powered equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions
- Scrub all surgical procedures and understand the special needs, techniques, and requirements of the individual surgeon
- Scrub specialty surgeries without the presence of a sales representative, including sports medicine and trauma
- Assist RN with completion of operative charge and recording of hardware used during procedure
- Collect specimens and cultures by verifying source and correct tissue identification with surgeon
