Registered Nurse (Step Down/PCU) - Travel Assignment
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Weekend Hours: As required by facility
Call Requirements: None
Unit & Patient Care Information
- Unit Type: Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU (Step Down)
- Number of Beds: 26
- Patient Ratios: 3:1 or 4:1
- Patient Types: Neuro, trauma, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory distress, insulin drips
- Equipment Used: Philips monitors, chest tubes, arterial lines, wound vacs, drains, external ventricular drains (EVDs), Nicom, BIPAP, Airvo
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
- Float Requirements: Rotational float to critical care cluster or med/surg units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
- Maintain professional accountability and evaluate care effectiveness of other caregivers
- Uphold patient rights and confidentiality
- Perform duties consistent with nursing practice guidelines, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and organizational mission and values
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs; minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Exposure to blood and body fluids considered high risk
- May require flexible scheduling and shift changes based on patient care needs
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability

- No other scrub colors or attire permitted

Additional Notes
- Flexible guaranteed hours options (36 or 48 hours) may be available but must be specified on submission
- Blocked scheduling may be approved based on facility needs
- Requests for time off (RTO) must be made after the first week of assignment; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
