Location: Brownsville, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Department: Emergency Department
  • Number of Beds: 22
  • Number of Staff: 55
  • Patient Ratios: 4:1
  • EMR System: Meditech
  • Shifts:
    • Day Shift: Charge + 5 RNs + ER Techs
    • Night Shift: Charge + 6 RNs + ER Techs

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Emergency Department
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years of recent Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity setting (highest requirement)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse License

Skills and Experience

  • Strong triage and critical thinking skills
  • Trauma and cardiac alert experience, including care of STEMI, stroke, and sepsis patients
  • Experience with Meditech documentation system preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Typical Procedures Performed

  • IV insertion, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, wound care
  • Moderate sedation for procedures such as reductions or cardioversion
  • Assisting with intubation, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and code response
  • Care of stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral health patients
  • Transport preparation and coordination for higher levels of care
  • Triage assessment and prioritization based on ESI guidelines
  • Isolation and infection control protocols
  • Documentation and reassessment in fast-paced environments

  • Punctual, reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
  • Schedule: 2 weekends per schedule required, no on-call
