Requirements

• Must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Must have the following certifications prior to start:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse License for New Mexico
• New Mexico State Requirement:

  • All clinical staff must be fingerprinted before hire and provide documentation that the background check is being processed
  • Travelers may start on a 14-day waiver while awaiting results but must be supervised during this period
  • Agencies must have an account with the New Mexico Department of Health to initiate background checks

Orientation

• Weekly orientation sessions held on Mondays
