Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel Assignment

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical inpatient experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in an inpatient setting

Unit Information

• 60-bed unit
• Patient ratio approximately 1:5 or 1:6
• Equipment used includes bladder scanner, vein finder, IV pumps, wound vacs
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
• Patient population: Medical patients

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Adhere to professional accountability and facility standards
• Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Work varying schedules as needed based on patient care requirements
• Follow all applicable nursing practice guidelines and state regulations

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing and walking
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, kneeling, crouching, minimal crawling
• Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination is mandatory for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Dress code requires black scrubs only

Summary

This travel RN position offers an opportunity to work in a medical-surgical telemetry unit with a supportive team environment.
