Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, 4x10 hour shifts, scheduled between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours
• Weekend Hours: As required by facility
• Call Requirements: Approximately 5 or fewer calls per 8 weeks
• Number of Openings: 1

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including scrub and circulator roles
• OR experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients (minimum 2 years)
• Trauma experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience

Unit and Patient Information

• Patient types range from outpatient to critical care inpatient
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Equipment includes various surgical tools and DaVinci robotic systems
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
• Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
• Perform duties consistent with nursing standards and Missouri Nurse Practice Act
• Participate in night shift orientation during day shift and be available for the full orientation week

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Mostly standing and walking during shifts
• Ability to lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
• Work typically in a clean, air-conditioned environment
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel assignments from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)
• Scrub color provided; professional attire required (jeans and unprofessional attire not allowed)
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter
