Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Position: Registered Nurse in General Intermediate Level of Care (IMC)
Shifts: Day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: As needed (up to 36 hours)
Call Requirements: None
Float Requirements: Will float to appropriate similar units at IMC level or lower as needed

Unit Information

Unit Size: 12 IMC beds (36 beds total on the floor)
Patient Ratios:
- IMC patients: 1:3
- Med-surg side (when floating): 1:4-5 (days), 1:5-6 (nights)
Equipment Used: Telemetry, BiPAP, Hi-Flow O2, Insulin drips for DKA protocol
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Epic

Patient Population

Respiratory conditions
Medical telemetry patients
Some surgical patients
Sepsis
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Altered Mental Status
Failure to Thrive
Respiratory Failure
Various acute on chronic medical conditions

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maine
Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year
Med Surg experience
Completion of one or more travel assignments
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

Prior IMC travel experience preferred
