Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery / Postpartum) - Travel Position

Location: New Braunfels, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
Work Type: Full Time

Job Summary

Provide independent nursing care in a labor and delivery/postpartum setting, managing routine and complex patient needs. Utilize nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) to care for assigned patients. Delegate and assign tasks appropriately to manage clinical situations. Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitor effectiveness and side effects, and document all care provided. Educate patients, families, and caregivers based on assessed learning needs.

Patient Ratios

Labor & Delivery: 1 nurse to 2 patients
Postpartum: 1 nurse to 6 patients (3 moms / 3 babies)

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing or higher
Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)

Licenses & Certifications

Valid Registered Nurse license in Texas
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certification
STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants)

Orientation & Onboarding

New experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire
Preceptorship by a trained staff member with validation of organizational and Perinatal Services-specific competency
Completion of all annual competency verifications required

Work Environment & Equipment

Full-service hospital with advanced birthing center and 24/7 neonatal coverage
Use of innovative equipment and procedures including outpatient imaging, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care

Additional Notes

Must meet applicable nursing leadership competencies
Ability to manage contingencies and long-range care plans expected
