Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (L&D RN) - Seattle, Washington

Position Details

Experience & Certifications

  • Years of Experience Required: 3 years preferred (minimum 2 years acceptable)
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted

  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, EFM)

Job Description & Special Notes

  • Care for childbearing women and newborns including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
  • Facility is a Level 3 Perinatal center with approximately 70% high-risk patients.
  • Level 4 NICU available as a regional center.
  • Approximately 150 births per month.
  • Unit includes 2 O.R.s for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum D&Cs.
  • Second L&D RN acts as "baby catcher" for well, non-compromised babies.
  • Guaranteed hours policy: Providers may be called off or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift in a 2-week cycle during low census.
  • Ambulatory or surgical services may be closed on weekends and holidays, affecting scheduling.

Compliance & Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, sex offender search, and others as required.
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
  • Various competency exams required (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, conscious sedation for GI Lab/Endo, etc.).
  • WA state-specific requirements for multi-state licensed nurses (suicide prevention training, demographic attestation).
  • Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, PCIS and Pyxis agreements, department checklist, email setup, and license complaint clearance.
  • Health requirements include:
    • Physical exam (required by agency)
    • Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start (specific mask types required)
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (with specific documentation requirements)
    • Drug screening (10 panel) within one year (agency requirement)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination with education module completion
    • COVID vaccination or declination documentation for tracking

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must watch EPIC/Alaris integration video and complete attestation.
  • Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training required for L&D RNs.
  • Performance evaluations requested at end of assignment (Montlake location).
  • Radiation badges no longer provided by agency for new candidates; must be supplied by facility if needed.
