Job Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: PM shift support, must be flexible to work weekends
  • Floating: Required to float between like units, specifically to mother-baby units and possibly to another nearby Providence facility
  • Local Radius: 50 miles
  • Experience Required: Minimum 3 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Depends on contract length
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block Schedule: May be accommodated at manager's discretion
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification)
  • AWHONN Advanced
  • BCLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Must have a background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Includes SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and National Sex Offender checks, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), and others
  • Returning candidates with less than 30-day gap may not require new background check
  • Oregon Abuse/Neglect search required only for specific facilities
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly

Education Verification

  • Required for all candidates
  • RNs/LVNs must verify nursing degree
  • International education requires transcripts/diplomas or CES report

Licensure

  • Must have valid state license (California)
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • CPDH certificate required for all RTs working in California

Health Documents

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit mask test required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required: TDAP, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu (seasonal), COVID-19 (vaccine or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Unit-specific competency exams, including EFM training for L&D RNs (via certification or Relias exam)
  • Color Blind Testing if required by unit

References & Employment History

  • Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in last 3 years (6 months for CNAs) from supervisors
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors) with explanations for gaps/overlaps

Facility & System Specific Requirements

  • May be required to float to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro
  • Scrub color: Any
  • Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
  • Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules (Core, Specialty, Regional) prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Epic training modules required and must be completed after Providence access is granted
  • Compliance with Providence’s controlled substance waste policy (for ER RN and ER LVN)
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for travel starts after 2/5/2024
