Required Experience & Skills
- Trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho experience required due to trauma status of the unit
- Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) - verify per clinical track
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually
Background & Verification
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required for all candidates
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- Employment application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
- Minimum 2 references from supervisors covering 1 year of employment in relevant specialty
- State-specific searches and registry checks as applicable (e.g., Washington state requirements)
Training & Competency Requirements
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp Core and Specialty Modules prior to start (assigned by CS)
- Epic training modules required and must be completed ASAP after orientation
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Skills checklists updated annually for applicable units
- Color blindness testing if required by unit
Additional Notes
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Block scheduling possible but subject to manager discretion
- Free parking available onsite
