Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele - 4N Surgical Unit)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: 4N, a 46-bed surgical unit
- Patient Population: Trauma surgery, post bariatric surgery, post abdominal surgery, post amputation surgery, urological issues, medically and cardiac overflow
- Shift: 4x12 hour day shifts
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday
- Call Requirements: None
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Charting System: Cerner
Experience & Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - Required for all RNs, must be completed through BlueCloud
Additional Requirements
- Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (no locals accepted)
- Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
- Physical exam required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (T-Spots not accepted)
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with boosters if low titer)
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant accepted if needed for quick start)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start (flu season October–May)
- COVID vaccine exemption allowed with medical or religious documentation submitted
Onboarding & Compliance
- Completion of facility-specific modules (approx. 8-10 hours) required prior to start
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement must be signed prior to start
This position offers a surgical nursing experience in a busy trauma and post-operative care unit with a supportive environment for first-time travel nurses.
