Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Missouri, Columbia

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Location: Columbia, Missouri
  • Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, and STEMI Emergency Department with Pediatric ED inside
  • Float: Yes, between ED and ED Observation units (Psych center associated but no float there)
  • Shift Requirements: Rotating shifts, including holidays and every other weekend; must work at least 50% of holidays during contract
  • Call: Ability to take call required
  • Physical Demands: Active role requiring ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
  • Exposure: Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
  • Work Environment: 24/7 healthcare facility, work during inclement weather required

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Emergency Room (ER)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years required
  • Additional Notes: First-time travelers accepted if they have Level I trauma experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required (AHA or ARC provider card)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required (AHA or ARC provider card)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required (AHA or ARC provider card)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for all pre-start ER RNs as of 11/5/2024
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Preferred (Blue Card) but not mandatory for this role
  • Other certifications may be preferred depending on patient population but not required for this position

Required Licenses

  • Registered Nurse License: Valid Missouri RN license required
  • NURSYS Verification: Required within 60 days of start

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 60 days of start (including alias/all names, counties lived/worked/school, national and federal criminal searches, sex offender search, social security trace, and international background check if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions checks required within 60 days of start
  • Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Missouri Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days before starting (cannot start with both pending)
  • Drug screening: Negative 7-panel drug test required within 60 days of start
  • Photo ID and proof of eligibility to work required (I9, eVerify)
  • Employment application and resume with at least 7 years of employment history (no gaps over 30 days) required

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205 models)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or approved exemptions:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines
    • Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer (declinations no longer accepted for new candidates)
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Drug testing: Negative 7-panel drug screen within 60 days of start

Job Functions and Expectations

  • Ability to work full term at assigned location
  • Ability to work full shift hours, assigned weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to take call as needed

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
