Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Irvine, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (occasionally 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in Irvine, CA. The role involves day shifts Monday through Friday with occasional later start times.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 1 year of Occupational Health experience, with experience within the last year
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (required depending on unit)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (may be required depending on unit)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) (required for Labor & Delivery RNs)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except certain specialties)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam (e.g., ICU exam for Burn ICU and Interventional Radiology RNs)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele and MS/Tele RNs)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card (required for RNs in ER and Behavioral Health)
- Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens Exam (passing score of 80% required)
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication/Calculation Exam and Arrhythmia Recognition Assessment (EKG exam) with 80% passing score for MS/Tele, Tele, Step Down, ER, ICU, IR, and PACU nurses.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year, updated annually.
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Hepatitis B series or declination (titer not acceptable).
- Hepatitis C titer preferred; declination accepted with reason.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1; boosters required if negative/equivocal.
- Varicella positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1; boosters required if negative/equivocal.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap or Pertussis titer if unable to receive vaccine.
- Fit Mask Testing: N95 fit test within 1 year, renewed annually; PAPR documentation accepted if N95 fit test failed.
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required by December 5th or signed declination; masking policies apply for unvaccinated.
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Current 2024-2025 vaccine documentation preferred; declination accepted with masking requirements during flu season.
Background & Documentation
- Criminal Background Check: Within 1 year, including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, social security trace, and federal searches.
- Education Verification: Proof of education required.
- References: Two references within 1 year from leadership in current specialty.
- Employment Verification: Verification of all employment from past 3 years required.
- License Verification: Primary source verification required.
- Signed Acknowledgments: HIPAA, job description, orientation packets, workplace violence prevention, sexual violence and harassment policy, and other facility-specific documents.
Additional Information
- Orientation modules are completed onsite or at home after start.
- Skills self-assessment required for RNs.
- Badge and identification requirements include government-issued photo ID and facility-specific badges.
- Various facility-specific policies and training packets must be reviewed and acknowledged prior to or during orientation.
