Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position for a Certified Sterile Processing Technician
- Certification required: HSPA or CBSPD
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in sterile processing
- Must be available to work one weekend per month
- 40 hours per week
Required Experience
- Specialty: Surgical Services (Sterile Processing)
- Minimum years of experience: 3+ years
Prior Travel Experience

Certifications & Competencies
- Sterile Processing Technician certification (HSPA or CBSPD) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required and collected by agency (not client)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Required for some specialties, verify if applicable
- Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (check specific job details)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID required
- Massachusetts Statewide (iCORI) Release required and updated annually
- 7-year Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start, including:
- SSN Trace
- 7-year County search
- National Criminal search
- Exclusions and sanctions checks (NSOR, OIG, SAM)
- Education Verification of highest completed education required
- Sex Offender Search (for subcontractors if applicable)
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all candidates in MA (not subcontractors)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray documentation required
- Immunizations or declinations required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination (or declination during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination (most recent) or declination
- Drug Testing within 30 days of start, covering multiple substances
Additional Requirements
- Must provide 2 professional references within 3 years of start date
- Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually as applicable
Work Schedule
- 40 hours per week
- One weekend per month required
