Requirements
- License: Massachusetts RN license required
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in acute care case management (highest required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not specified (no explicit requirement)
Certifications & Competencies
Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (required for ER)
- Pass/Fail Testing (Medication Exam required for all RNs; Telemetry Exam required for RNs in telemetry units including L&D)
- State License Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification within 30 days prior to start
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Tech Cert Verification - National (within 30 days of start)
Preferred Certifications (depending on specialty/unit):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (annual update required for direct candidates)
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI Clearance (attestation required within 30 days prior to start)
- Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unperformable)
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
- References: 2 references within 3 years of start
- Employment application covering 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
- Immunizations or valid declinations (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU where noted):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Flu seasonal vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination (most recent) or facility-specific declination
- TB testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within a year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire if positive
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (for tracking only)
Additional Notes
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID required
- Medication and Telemetry exams must be passed with a minimum score of 80% on the first day of orientation to avoid cancellation
- Some certifications and requirements may vary depending on the specific unit or specialty within the facility
