Job Summary: Registered Nurse (PACU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Position Details

• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM), primarily Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
• Workweek Hours:

  • 3 x 12-hour shifts = 36 hours
  • 4 x 12-hour shifts = 48 hours (optional)
  • 8 and 10-hour shifts also possible totaling 40 hours/week
• Holidays: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• First Timers: Accepted
• Locals: Not accepted
• License: Indiana state RN license required and must be in hand before submission
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in PACU
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • PALS (AHA or RQI accepted)

Important Notes

• This is a PACU position; traveler may be asked to work pre-op as well. Candidates must be willing to work both areas.
• Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at this facility except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including PACU).
• Pending licenses are not accepted.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
• Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
• State license verification within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
  • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency exam
• References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
• Skills checklist within 12 months and annually thereafter

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse specializing in PACU with a minimum of 1 year of experience. The position requires working primarily evening/night shifts with holiday coverage. Indiana RN license and required certifications must be current and in hand before starting. First-time travelers are welcome, and prior travel experience is not required. Compliance with extensive health, background, and competency documentation is mandatory.
