Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Specialty & Unit Details

• Specialty: Mixed Acuity (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown)
• Unit: 48-bed unit specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery
• Patient Population: Strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, neurological conditions
• Patient Load: Up to 5 Med Surg patients per RN
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Med Surg/Telemetry: 1:5 days / 1:6 nights (rarely 1:7 nights)
  • Stepdown: 1:3-4 days and nights

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty, specifically in a large, urban hospital
• Prior Travel Experience: First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
• Drip Experience: Required on all floors
• Charting System: EPIC experience required
• Floating: Must be willing to float within scope to various units including Bellevue campus
• Locals: Not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
• License: Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed by six weeks

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period

  • Days: Saturday and Sunday
  • Nights: Friday night and Saturday night
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO (Return to Office) Restrictions: Up to 2 weeks permitted, must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion
• Facility Policy: 100% nicotine-free

Uniform & Parking

• Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
• Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates

Certifications & Compliance

• Required Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
• Other Requirements:

  • Background check within 30 days of start (includes extensive checks)
  • SAM and OIG checks every 30 days
  • Education verification
  • State-specific abuse/neglect registry checks
  • Primary source license verification
  • Annual physical exam and fit mask test
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start and annually
  • Immunizations and health documents including:

    • Tdap/Tetanus (within last 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccinations or titer
    • Flu vaccine documentation or declination (preferred, not mandatory)
    • COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
• Additional: Annual skills checklist and references from work within past 2 years required

• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs
• Facility is a top-rated acute-care teaching hospital with a focus on complex neurological cases
• Travelers must be prepared to work in a multi-care level environment with a specialized patient population
