Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical/Telemetry 6/7 Lied (20-bed general medical surgical and telemetry unit including orthopedic patients)
• Patient Population:

  • Total Knee and Hip replacements
  • Complicated orthopedic cases
  • Pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, psychiatric illnesses
  • Behavioral health patients on 7th floor (including detox, dementia, potentially violent patients) – secured floor with safety and de-escalation training provided
• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Ratios:

  • Days: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:6 (rarely 1:7)
• Floating: May float within scope to other units including Bellevue campus (units such as 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU)
• Care Team: Includes CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics; LPNs on some floors
• Facility: 100% nicotine-free

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large, urban hospital; first-time travelers not accepted unless 2 years at a Level I Academic Medical Center
• Certifications:

  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
  • CPI preferred
• Skills:

  • Drip experience required on all floors
  • EPIC charting experience required
• Licensing:

  • Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed 6 weeks
• Work Restrictions:

  • Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
  • Up to 2 weeks of Return to Office (RTO) permitted, subject to manager approval
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period

  • Days: Saturday and Sunday
  • Nights: Friday night and Saturday night

Uniform & Parking

• Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
• Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking ($3 for 20 hours)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID
• Background check within 30 days of start (includes nationwide and federal enhanced searches)
• SAM and OIG checks every 30 days
• Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
• State-specific abuse/neglect registry checks
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP as applicable
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• State license verification and NURSYS verification
• Competency exams and medication tests as applicable
• Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents:

  • Tdap within last 10 years
  • Annual TB testing or chest x-ray if positive history
  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
  • COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption accepted)
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years
• Annual skills checklist required
• Eye exam required for OR staff only
