Work Environment & Schedule

• Patient ratio: 1:2 (may flex to 1:3)
• Weekend shifts: 4 per 4-week schedule (weekends required)
• Call: Not required
• Float: Yes, to all ICUs, occasionally to ED, PACU, and MS/PCU units (with 1:4 ratios)
• Nurses perform lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts
• Facility expects coverage through Mardi Gras (2/13 - 2/22); minimize time off requests during this period

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with Impella and NxStage devices preferred
• Epic electronic health record experience required

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) — can be obtained onsite within 30 days (cost applies)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Candidates must know their N95 mask size (COVID-19 isolation patients expected)

Additional Requirements

• Limited Return to Office (RTO) requests allowed: maximum 5 days total
• Must be able to care for isolation patients (COVID-19)
• Float to multiple units as needed

Competency & Health Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (annual, 80%+ score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual, 80%+ score)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) annually
• Physical Exam (within 12 months)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• TB Testing: Two-step skin test or equivalent within 3 months of start
• Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions accepted

Background & Documentation

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Notes

• Facility may provide CPI certification onsite for candidates not already certified
• Nurses expected to be flexible and able to float to various units including ICU, ED, PACU, MS/PCU
• Minimize time off during Mardi Gras period (2/13 - 2/22) due to high patient volume
