Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ED)
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts with alternating weekends and holidays
- Float between ED and ED Observation units (Psych center associated but no float there)
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, and STEMI ED with a pediatric ED inside the main ED
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- 1st time travelers accepted only if they have Level I trauma experience
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - preferred
- Ability to:
- Work at assigned location for the full contract term
- Work the majority of assigned shifts
- Take call
- Work assigned weekends
- Work at least 50% of holidays during the contract
Facility & Work Environment
- Level 1 Trauma Center with Stroke and STEMI capabilities
- Pediatric ED within the main ED
- Psych center associated but no float to psych required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and international checks if applicable
- State-specific background checks and registrations (Missouri FCSR and Caregiver Background Screening)
- Verification of professional licenses and certifications within 60 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required vaccinations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or approved exemption
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B series or positive titer (declinations no longer accepted for new candidates)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season
- Drug screening: Negative 7-panel within 60 days of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (not required for some tech roles)
- Photo for badge (new candidates only)
Additional Notes
- References: 2 professional references within last 2 years required
- Resume must include at least 7 years of employment history with no gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgement required
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position

I worked in Same Day Surgery. The PACU and OR staff were great to work with. The supervisor/manager was very easy to approach and talk with.
