Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - North Kansas City, Missouri

Position Details

Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts, every other weekend required
Start Date: ASAP (Tuesday Orientation)
License Required: Missouri RN or Compact License
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (ER)
Prior Travel Experience: Required (No first-time travelers accepted)
Charting System: Cerner experience required, no exceptions

Certifications & Training Requirements

Mandatory Certifications (current before start):
- ACLS (American Heart Association or RQI)
- BLS (American Heart Association or RQI)
- PALS (American Heart Association or RQI) or ENPC (preferred alternative)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ED/ER and ICU candidates; ACTN cert acceptable alternative
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER and related units)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required starting 1/1/2026 (8-hour in-person course or AVADE)
Additional Requirements:
- EKG competency: Must pass an EKG exam on orientation day with a score of 80% or higher, including lethal rhythm interpretation (pass/fail testing required)
- Dysrhythmia Advanced Course with minimum 80% score and 100% on lethal rhythms section
- CEU Requirements: Must have continuing education units relevant to stroke, trauma, and cardiac care as per unit standards; all CEUs must specify credit hours and be updated annually
- Pass/Fail Acknowledgement form for EKG testing must be signed

Background & Compliance Checks

Criminal background check covering all states/counties lived or worked in past 7 years (within 30 days of start)
EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required
State-specific Missouri EDL search prior to start with digital signature verification
License primary source verification and NURSYS verification required
Transcript/Diploma verification required for ED nurses

Health & Safety Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start
Fit mask test onsite (no facial hair allowed; failure results in contract cancellation)
Flu vaccination required with approved medical or religious exemptions accepted (exemptions must be documented and approved)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT accepted)
COVID vaccination required or acceptable facility-specific waiver form
10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
Required immunizations or titers: MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (Aya requirement), with boosters if titers are low

Facility-Specific Policies & Documents

Safe Medication Administration Agreement required (failure to comply may result in contract termination)
Dress code and artificial/natural nail policies apply to all candidates
HealthStream modules completed during orientation (facility-managed)
Skills checklist required; MS skills accepted for Rehab placements
References: 2 recent references required

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience, strong Cerner skills, and all required certifications current and ready before starting.
