Job Description

  • Requires 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (highest required experience).
  • Must have ICU and ED experience; NICU experience preferred.
  • Epic experience required.
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
    • Louisiana State License
  • Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience not required).
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required.
  • On Call Requirement: None.
  • Float Requirement: Not applicable.

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS, BLS, RRT, LA State License (must be verified within 30 days of start).
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (updated annually, must score 80%+).
  • Competency Exam (updated annually, must score 80%+).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (updated annually, must score 80%+).
  • Core Competency Parts I, II, and III (updated annually).

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam (within 12 months of start).
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper forms).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/Tspot or 2-step skin test within 3 months of start).
  • Annual TB Questionnaire.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low.
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start).
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low.
  • Drug Testing within 30 days of start (10-panel drug screen including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.).
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination/Documentation required annually (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted.

Additional Information

  • Must have government-issued photo ID matching all documentation.
  • Employee appearance policy must be reviewed prior to starting.
  • Epic system access required.
  • Medication and competency exams must be current and maintained annually.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit (not specified for this role).

This is a travel contract position for a Certified Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of experience, ICU and ED experience required, and Epic system proficiency.
