Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float - Registered Nurse

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Shift: Evening/Nights, 8 shifts of 12 hours (1900-0730), every other weekend, holiday rotation, no call.
  • Work in multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, etc.
  • ICU experience with adult populations is required.
  • Must be willing to float and work with IMC/Progressive/General care populations as needed.
  • Experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma Center required.
  • Must have successfully completed at least one prior travel assignment of 13 weeks.
  • Must have completed two years of acute care experience within the last 3 years.
  • Epic electronic health record experience required, preferably within the last 12 months.
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start.
  • Floating: Travelers may be assigned shifts in multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs.

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association only.
  • Telemetry test (Basic Arrhythmia) must be passed before starting.

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Critical Care)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years acute care experience within last 3 years (highest requirement).
  • Prior Travel Experience: Must have completed at least one prior travel contract of 13 weeks.

Location & Logistics

  • Permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site.
  • Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available (bus, park & ride, private parking).

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years.
  • Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems.
  • Education verification as applicable.
  • State-specific caregiver screening and BID form required for Wisconsin.
  • Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual).
    • TB testing and questionnaire.
    • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or approved exemptions.
    • Other vaccines as applicable (Tetanus, Meningococcal).
  • Telemetry testing (Adult and Pediatric as applicable) with strict passing criteria and remediation process.
  • Medication and competency exams as applicable.
  • Photo for badge and signed safety manual acknowledgment required.
