Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Stepdown) - Travel/Contract

Location: Hannibal, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
• Patient Ratios: 1:3
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years (higher end of 1-2 years stated)
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Local Candidates: Not accepted within 60-mile radius
• On-call Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• Float Requirements: May float within scope to med tele, med surg, and rehab units as needed
• Charge Nurse Duties: May be scheduled if possible
• Isolation Patients: Must be comfortable caring for isolation patients, including COVID-19
• Experience with Drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Dobutamine
• Special Procedures/Equipment Experience: Thoracentesis, Paracentesis, BiPAP, Airvo

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Missouri or Compact RN license required
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • BLS (AHA only)
• Preferred/Additional Certifications:

  • PALS preferred but not required for this unit
  • TNCC preferred but not required for ED
  • NIH Stroke Certification required and must be updated annually

Competencies & Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within last 12 months)
• Unit Competency Exam (within last 12 months)
• Annual Core Testing (Parts I, II, III)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination or exemption accepted with approval)
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
• 7 Panel Drug Screen within 45 days of start
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption considered; weekly testing and mask required if exempt

Background & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, including:

  • 7-year history (lived/worked/school)
  • Social Security trace
  • County and nationwide searches
  • National sex offender registry
  • Education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required
• Employment application, skills checklist, and references from at least 2 recent employers required

Additional Notes

• Must comply with facility-specific orientation and safety modules
• Must submit a passport-style photo for badge prior to start
• Must sign confidentiality and HIPAA statements prior to start
• Religious and medical exemptions for COVID-19 and flu vaccines require facility-specific forms and approval
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
