Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Patient Population
- Adolescents to Geriatrics
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Work Setting & Skills
- No block scheduling
- Patient mix includes MS/Tele, Intermediate, Neuro (small population), Respiratory, Cardiac, Mixed Medical
- Titrating cardiac drips required
- Telemetry required
- Assignments may be all PCU, all MS/Tele, or a mix depending on acuity and staffing
- Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients (high staffing ratio)
- Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility
- Call: None
- Holidays: Travelers expected to work major holidays during assignment (up to 2 holidays if 3 fall within assignment)
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time
- Orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours orientation)
- Background checks, education verification, and other compliance documents must be completed prior to or shortly after start
Required Competencies & Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac step-down, ICU, PCU)
- Competency Exam (required by agency)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (required)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (results must be available before start)
Additional Notes
- Floating within the facility is required
- No call responsibilities
- Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Appearance Policy prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency
- Skills checklist and work history verification required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
