Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Radiology/Cardiology) - Travel/Contract
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Overnight, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Position Summary
- Role: MRI Technologist (MRI only, no X-ray required)
- Certification: ARRT (R)(MR) required
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years in MRI specialty
- Equipment used:
- Siemens Skyra 3T
- Siemens Sola 1.5T
- GE Signa HDx 1.5T
Licensure & Certification Requirements
- Must have or be able to submit a pending Virginia license and verify VA license application/follow temporary process
- ARRT (R)(MR) certification mandatory
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (check with program management if unclear)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred but not required for Sterile Processing Techs (SPTs)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for certain units (not specifically stated for this role)
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC) to be confirmed if applicable
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (MRI)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MRI technology
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Work Environment
- Hospital-based position
- EPIC system used: Radiology MT Online on Unit
- Scrub color: Grey
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) unless approved medical or religious exemption is provided
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Candidates must provide and maintain the following:
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- E-Verify proof or attestation
- Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit mask test within last 12 months (exceptions apply)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific panel required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Flu seasonal vaccination or approved exemption
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, policies, and training including EPIC training modules as required
- Completion of competency exams and core training annually
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
- Radiation badge attestation if applicable (MRI techs require attestation of prior radiation exposure)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must complete various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements prior to start, including confidentiality agreements, code of ethics, dress code, infection control manuals, parking forms, and vendor access requests.
- Flu vaccine exemptions require documentation and approval by agency or clinical leadership; facility no longer approves exemptions directly.
- Candidates must wear both agency and facility badges at all times while on assignment.
- EPIC training includes an accelerated online class for some candidates; others complete training onsite.
