Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position

Location: La Jolla, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Start times range from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM for AM shifts.
• Some days require working 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM to connect with the night team.
• Predominantly Monday through Friday.

Background Checks & Compliance

• Must have background checks within 6 months of start, including:

  • SSN Trace with all aliases

• Adjudication process for any background or license hits applies.

Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RNs in specific units (ER, ICU, Tele, etc.).
• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all RNs, OR Techs, Surg Techs, Patient Transporters, Medical Assistants, and Phlebotomists.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RNs in ER, PACU, Pediatrics, PICU, etc.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for RNs in L&D, NICU, PACU, Mother-Baby Post-Partum.
• CNOR (Certified Nurse OR): Required for specific RNs working in OR.
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for RNs working in L&D.
• Tech Certification Verification: Required for OB, OR, Surg Techs, Sterile Processing Techs, and other Allied Specialties as per unit description.
• State License Verification: Required for CT Techs, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Techs, Dosimetrists.
• IV Certification: May be required for certain units and professions.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): May be required for certain units.
• NIH Stroke Certification: May be required for certain units; required for ICU, PCU, and Tele units for Per Diem.
• Miscellaneous certifications preferred but not required for some specialties (e.g., CPhT for Pharmacy Tech, CPAN/CAPA for PACU, CDN/CNN for Dialysis).

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required for all RNs (passing score 80%+).
• Color Blind Testing required (online acceptable).
• Competency Exam required for clinical positions (passing score 80%+).

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start; must be updated if break in service >30 days.
• Fit Mask: Annual fit test required; N95 masks accepted. PAPR training only with proof of failed mask tests.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years of start; declination requires titer and masking.
• Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Required; options include recent Q Gold/Tspot or two-step PPDs; chest x-ray if positive history.
• TB Questionnaire: Required annually.
• Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal.
• Hepatitis B: Required; proof of vaccination and titer preferred; declination accepted with signed form.
• Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal.
• Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; must be re-run if break in service >30 days.
• Flu Seasonal Vaccination: Strongly preferred during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31); declination requires forms.
• COVID-19: Single dose of bivalent or current seasonal vaccine or declination required as of 3/13/2025.

References

• Two references required covering employment within the past 2 years in the current specialty.
• For travel/per diem: Preferably one from a manager/supervisor/director and one from a Charge RN who directly supervised.
• If manager reference unavailable, two Charge RN references acceptable if both supervised directly.
• Allied specialties require references from Lead or Manager titles.
• CNAs, MAs, Phlebotomists require two leadership references within the last year preferred.
• Pharmacy requires two supervisory references within the last year preferred.
• Non-clinical positions require two leadership references within the past year.

Additional Notes

• Orientation and training modules are assigned prior to start and must be completed timely.
• Per Diem candidates have additional badge and clearance requirements.
• Various facility-specific documents and trainings may be required depending on role and unit.
