Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 1900-0730
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Must have Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE, and Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certifications at submission
  • Skills required: Circulate, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), preceptor and/or charge nurse experience
  • Triage experience preferred
  • Float within skillset required (Mom/Baby, postpartum, etc.)
  • Call required: 36 hours in 6 weeks or 12 hours per pay period; must be on premises within 45 minutes of call
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery experience mandatory
  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • C-EFM (Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - If not currently held, AWHONN certification accepted temporarily but must register for C-EFM course
  • AWHONN certification preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Background checks including criminal history, education verification, and federal/state screenings required
  • Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within last year or per protocol)
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia testing may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)

Work History and References

  • Two positive supervisory references required, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information

Scheduling and Work Conditions

  • Floating within related skillsets (Mom/Baby, postpartum) expected
  • Call coverage and weekend/holiday shifts required
  • Must be able to respond to call within 45 minutes on-site

This position is ideal for RNs with strong Labor and Delivery experience, especially those comfortable with high-risk cases and flexible scheduling including call and floating duties. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
