Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position

Unit & Shift Details

• Unit: Medical Intermediate Care (IMC) - Nights
• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Float Required: Yes, to all PCU units, med-surg, ICU for PCU assignment
• Weekends: Minimum of 6 required (schedule TBD)
• Average Daily Census: 12 patients
• Rooms/Beds: 12
• Staffing Ratio: 1:4
• Patient Population: Medical to neuro diagnoses including GIB, pneumonia, sepsis, respiratory diseases, stroke/neuro patients
• Patient Care: Patients seen by hospitalist service
• Schedule: No set or block schedules; weekends and holidays required
• Time off requests considered if they do not impact shift requirements

Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 1+ years nursing experience
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Required Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred
• Epic experience required

Orientation

• 2 shifts at bedside plus hospital orientation

Required Documentation & Compliance

• I9 verification
• Driver’s License/State ID
• E-Verify
• 7-year background check (including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
• Fingerprinting onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
• Education verification (highest level required)
• Physical exam within 12 months
• Fit test within 1 year (annual renewal required)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
• Annual TB questionnaire for positive TB results
• Skills checklist and work history verification (7 years)
• Employment application/resume required

Additional Notes

• Float assignments include PCU, med-surg, and ICU units
• Free CN and PCT support standard unless on call-offs
• Behavioral health nurses require specific competency training prior to start
• Facility-specific forms such as fingerprint consent and vehicle registration must be completed prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with intermediate care patients, flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays, and meeting comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
