Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Facility: Hospital within Piedmont Healthcare system

Job Details

• Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
• Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Float Requirements: Float to all Medical-Surgical (MS) and MS/Telemetry units within the hospital; possible float to sister campus (~3 miles away)
• Ratio / Census: 1:5-6
• Schedule:

  • Weekends: Every other weekend (approx. 6 weekends in 13 weeks)
  • Call: None
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
• Other certifications may be required depending on specialty (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – check specialty-specific requirements

Holidays

• If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
• If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
• If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
• Major holidays include: New Year’s Eve/Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and Spring Break (no RTO during Spring Break)

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time
• Non-compliance results in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Documents & Compliance Checks

• Photo ID: Driver’s License or State ID
• Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including criminal, sex offender, education verification, and others as specified
• Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
• Licenses: State license verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required)
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable if needed
• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
• TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
• Immunizations:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology, color blind testing, dysrhythmia/EKG competency (for applicable units)
• References: 2 clinical references required
• Skills Checklist: Updated within last 12 months
• Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Additional Notes

• Floating to multiple units required
• Locals accepted at same rate
• No call requirements
• Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

This position requires strong flexibility, compliance with multiple certifications and health requirements, and the ability to float across various medical-surgical and telemetry units using Epic electronic health records.
