Required Licenses and Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ENPC (acceptable in lieu of PALS) - Required for ER.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) - Required for ER; ATCN acceptable in lieu of TNCC.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Not required for ER.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - Not required for ER.
• NIH Stroke Certification - Required for ER; may be obtained within 30 days of hire onsite.
• Pass/Fail Testing:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% passing score required).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ER nurses).
  • Candidates allowed two attempts for each exam.

Required Documentation and Compliance

• I9 or Attestation.
• Valid government-issued photo ID (passport acceptable in lieu of driver's license or state ID).
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • 7-year county criminal background search.
  • Sex offender search.
  • State police investigation for behavioral health (if applicable).
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Fit mask test (completed onsite during orientation, updated annually).
• Negative TB test (TSpot or QGold) within 12 months; annual updates required.
• TB questionnaire annually after positive TB result.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for all travelers).
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella - positive titers or documentation of 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers low/equivocal.
  • Varicella - positive titers or documentation of 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers low/equivocal.
  • Hepatitis B - vaccine series and positive titer or signed facility-specific declination form.
• Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (rapid screens not accepted).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
• Photo for badge (passport style preferred).
• Completion of facility-specific forms including job description acknowledgment and NESF form.
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Emergency Department (ED) experience: minimum 1 year, with experience within the last year
• Pediatric Emergency Nursing Certification (ENPC)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
