Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
- Unit: Medical Rehabilitation Unit inside a Trauma hospital
- Patient Population: Primarily stroke patients (40%)
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with 30-minute lunch
- Caseload: Approximately 8 treatments per day
- Weekend Requirement: 1 Saturday per month for 4 hours (flexible timing)
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: No
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Start Date: Every other Monday once fully cleared
- Charting System: Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in West Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NBCOT certification
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
- SSN Trace, Sex Offender Search, National Criminal, and International searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination or approved exemption
- Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel
- COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted
- Fit Testing: Annual N95 fit testing required (3M N95 1860 Small or Regular and Aura 9205 only); accommodations available if unable to pass fit test
- References: One reference required from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within the last year
Orientation and Training
- Orientation is two days (Thursday and Friday) including Cerner Infusion Management training
- Completion of required in-service training modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
- Must complete annual skills checklist for specialty
Work Environment
- Collaborative team environment with PT, OT, and SLP
- Fully equipped OT gym with kitchen and advanced technology
- No scrub color restrictions except no blue, forest green, or maroon (reserved for nursing)
- Rewarding work with a focus on stroke rehabilitation
