ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Total hours per week: 36
  • Float requirement: Must be prepared to float frequently within scope to various units including ICU, Med Surg, Neuro, Trauma, Oncology, and Observation units. May float to a nearby campus.
  • Patient ratios in ICU: 1:2-3 (days and nights)
  • Multi-care level unit; RNs may care for up to five Med Surg patients simultaneously.
  • Drip management required on all floors.
  • Charting system: EPIC experience required.
  • Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
  • Weekend shifts: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat & Sun; nights: Fri & Sat night).
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with EPIC charting system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county and nationwide checks
  • SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification required
  • State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required within 30 days of start
  • Primary source license verification required prior to start
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask models required)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap within last 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if low/equivocal titers)
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low/equivocal titers)
    • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
    • COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption or declination accepted)
  • Eye exam required if working in OR (not applicable here)
  • References: 2 work references from past 2 years (1 must be most recent employer if not current traveler)

Additional Information

  • Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo on back (provided after confirmation)
  • Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
  • Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
  • Return to Office (RTO) blackout dates: June 11-22, 2026 (due to College World Series)
  • Up to two weeks of RTO permitted; requests must be submitted with application and approved by manager
  • Care team includes CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors

This position offers a challenging ICU travel nursing opportunity in a large, urban academic medical center with a focus on oncology and critical care patients. Candidates must be flexible, experienced, and prepared to float across multiple units.
