Job Summary

The Biomedical Technician is responsible for performance testing, repair, calibration, and safety testing of medical electronic and electromechanical equipment. The role involves working across two facilities approximately 13 miles apart, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Required Education

• Associate degree in Electronics or Electronic Technical Trade School

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Biomedical Technician experience
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematic drawings
• Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of electricity and electronics principles and theories
• Familiarity with the use and safe operation of electronic and electro/mechanical test equipment
• Proficiency with Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office applications
• Basic typing, data entry, and record-keeping skills

Physical Requirements

• Moderate physical activity including standing for long periods and walking between locations
• Ability to bend, stretch, reach, and handle delicate items
• Ability to lift, carry, and lower up to 15 lbs
• Excellent verbal and listening skills for effective communication

Key Job Duties

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on medical devices
• Evaluate, test, and screen new and existing medical devices for hazards
• Assist in developing safety policies, test procedures, and device efficiency
• Maintain technical library and spare parts inventory
• Assist with installation, wiring, uncrating, and assembly of medical equipment
• Maintain on-call status as required
• Participate in orientation of new employees and various committees
• Attend manufacturer technical service schools
• Assist during emergencies such as snow or other life-threatening events

Required Qualifications

• Biomed Technician with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
• Associate degree in Electronics or an Electronic Technical Trade School
• Familiarity with the safe operation of electronic, electro/mechanical test equipment

Additional Notes

• Orientation hours are billable
• Candidate will split time between two facilities approximately 13 miles apart
• Must maintain on-call status as required
