Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float Nurse

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum 2 years of experience required as a Registered Nurse.
• Epic electronic health record experience preferred.
• Staffing ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients.
• Strict requirement: Maximum 5 days return to office (RTO).

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications are preferred.

Preferred Certifications (if applicable)

• ACLS
• CPI (CPI Blue Card accepted; may be completed onsite within 30 days of start)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start.
• Immunizations and health documentation including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 3 months)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (required Oct 1 – March 31; exemptions accepted)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history and no gaps over 30 days.
• Medication, pharmacology, and competency exams required annually with minimum passing scores.
• Annual renewal of core competencies and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams.

Additional Information

• Must comply with employee appearance policy.
• Must complete all required background checks and verifications within specified timeframes.
• Physical exam not required.
• Strict adherence to all health and safety protocols including mask requirements for unvaccinated staff.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required.
