Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float Nurse
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 2 years of experience required as a Registered Nurse.
- Epic electronic health record experience preferred.
- Staffing ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients.
- Strict requirement: Maximum 5 days return to office (RTO).
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications are preferred.
Preferred Certifications (if applicable)
- ACLS
- CPI (CPI Blue Card accepted; may be completed onsite within 30 days of start)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Drug screening within 30 days of start.
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 3 months)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (required Oct 1 – March 31; exemptions accepted)
- Employment application with 7 years of work history and no gaps over 30 days.
- Medication, pharmacology, and competency exams required annually with minimum passing scores.
- Annual renewal of core competencies and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams.
Additional Information
- Must comply with employee appearance policy.
- Must complete all required background checks and verifications within specified timeframes.
- Physical exam not required.
- Strict adherence to all health and safety protocols including mask requirements for unvaccinated staff.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.
