Outpatient Clinic Infusion Registered Nurse

Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in an outpatient infusion unit caring for adult and geriatric patients.
  • Common patient diagnoses include oncology, neurological conditions, anemia, gastrointestinal issues, and others.
  • Use of equipment such as Alaris pumps, elastomeric pumps, and blood product administration.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability.
  • Day shift schedule, typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 5 days a week (40 hours/week).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 1 year of infusion nursing experience, with infusion experience within the last year.
  • Experience working in an outpatient setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Completion of Harassment Prevention Training with certificate.

Technology & Systems

  • Experience with EPIC electronic health records system.
  • Familiarity with Omnicell medication dispensing system and Ascom communication devices.
  • Use of glucometers for patient care.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
  • Background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (updated annually).
  • Education verification and confirmation of licensure through primary source verification.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
  • Fit mask test completed within 1 year and updated annually (N95 or equivalent respirators).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start date.
  • Immunization or proof of immunity for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September 1 - March 31).
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination required.
  • 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start date.

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum passing score of 80%.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (expires every 3 years) if applicable.
  • Color blindness test prior to start.

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to first shift.
  • Submission of a professional photo for badge issuance (headshot, plain background, no head coverings).
  • Review and sign facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgments.
  • Provide 2 professional references from travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles within the last 3 years.
