NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Montclair, New Jersey
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Level III / IV NICU unit
Accepts first-time travel nurses
50-mile radius rule; no local candidates considered
Total weekly hours: 36

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New Jersey
Minimum 1 year of NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

7-year background check completed within 1 year of start, updated annually
Education verification of highest level completed
Negative 2-step TB test (PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year of start
Adult Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
Immunization or positive titer documentation for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination/booster accepted)
- Varicella (or documented history of chickenpox signed by MD/DO)
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
Work history verification for 7 years; NJ requires at least 1 year verified with no gaps over 30 days
Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
Completion of employment application/resume

Additional Notes

Prior travel experience is not required
Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
E-Verify compliance required for direct hires; attestation for subcontractors
Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
Photo headshot required for badge issuance
