Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Unit & Patient Population

• Acute Medical Unit with Medical and Telemetry patients
• Average daily census: 16-18 patients
• Unit beds: 24
• Staffing ratio at night: 1 nurse to 5 patients
• Patient age group: Adults and Geriatrics
• Patient conditions include general medicine, surgical, infectious disease, and non-acute cardiac telemetry monitoring
• Care includes advanced medication infusion (without increase titration; decrease/weaning allowed)
• Exclusions: unstable GI bleeding, uncontrolled ischemic chest pain with unstable vitals, continuous NPPV, and certain high-risk medications (e.g., Tenecteplase, Insulin drip, Neosynephrine, Nipride)
• Float required within service line and scope
• Unit accepts first-time travelers
• Locals within 75-mile radius not accepted
• Pending licenses not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Illinois fingerprinting required for assignments involving long-term care or rehab units
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept-April)
• Required facility-specific documents include HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, and regulatory compliance education (annual quiz)
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months of start)

This is a night shift travel RN position on an Acute Medical/Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical and telemetry needs.
