Job Description

• Position: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse
• Must know how to titrate drips.
• Expected to rotate to Phase II PACU outpatient discharge as needed.
• Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital to take call.
• Level II Trauma Center experience required.
• Proficiency level: Majority should be at level 3 (Proficient) or 4 (Expert) in Neurological and Cardiovascular PACU skills.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2.
• Documentation system used: SCM.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (schedule determined by unit needs).
• On-call requirement: Yes, 4-6 night calls in 6 weeks and on call every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Call shifts alternate between 7 AM-7 PM and 7 PM-7 AM. Weekday night shift is 11 PM-7 AM.
• Floating: Required to float within scope to all four hospitals in the region.
• Block schedule: Possible, depending on unit needs and manager approval.
• Scrubs: Any solid color, matching.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Florida
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
• Level II Trauma Center experience, including trauma experience

Additional Requirements & Information

• Must provide finalized Return to Office (RTO) schedule with submission; no changes accepted after offer.
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start required.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start required.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, including marijuana.
• Immunization titers required within 5 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Fit mask test required within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required; must be fully shaven).
• Background checks required within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including social security trace, education verification, and various federal/state checks.
• Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance must be on file prior to start; travelers cannot start with fingerprints pending.
• Documentation: Clear passport-style photo with white background required for badge.
• Auto insurance required if applicable (e.g., for home health roles).
• Facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed prior to start.

Work Environment & Scheduling

• Level II Trauma Center environment.
• Floating to multiple hospitals within the region may be required.
• Weekend and on-call shifts are mandatory as described above.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval.

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced PACU Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of specialty experience, required certifications, and trauma center experience. The role involves critical care skills including drip titration, neurological and cardiovascular patient care, and flexibility to float across multiple hospitals. On-call and weekend shifts are required, and candidates must be located within 30 minutes of the hospital. Compliance with immunization, background checks, fingerprinting, and other health and facility-specific requirements is mandatory.

Note: First-time travel nurses will not be considered for this position.
