Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12s)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
Floating: Required as needed by facility
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units.
- Responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Use of Rapid Response and Code teams.
- Peripheral line care and management.
- Oxygen administration including nasal cannula and oxygen tanks.
- Non-invasive airway management.
- Adherence to isolation precautions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience (within the past year) in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including SSN trace, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG clearance prior to start.
- Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider.
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity verification
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
- Professional references: 2 within the last 3 years.
- Skills checklist required.
- Compliance with state-specific requirements including Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List checks.
Work Policies
- Call-off policy allows up to 3 missed shifts during the 13-week assignment.
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted before offer acceptance; no RTO approved after offer.
- No blocked scheduling.
- Floating to other units as needed.
Notes
- If the nurse does not currently hold a New York State RN license but has applied for it, submission is allowed with proof of application date.
- Nurses are responsible for completing facility-specific documents such as code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality agreements, and orientation acknowledgments.
- Nurses must complete training for automated dispensing cabinet security for medication access.
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with recent Med Surg and Telemetry experience who is comfortable with cardiac rhythm interpretation and working flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
