Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Beckley, West Virginia

Job Description

• Minimum 2+ years current experience in Telemetry (TELE), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Stepdown units.
• Patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6; may fluctuate based on census and call-ins.
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred.
• Float within scope of practice required.
• Every other weekend shift required.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia.
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Telemetry experience.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS and ACLS (AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI) required; can pend with certificate of completion.
• NIH Stroke Certification required.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required (except Psych, OR, Rehab, and true Med Surg units).
• Core Competency Parts I, II, and III required.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.

Health & Background Requirements

• Annual physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions.
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted).
• Proof of immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
• Annual drug testing with a 9-panel drug screen (no THC) plus expanded opiates and oxycodone.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.
• Background checks including national criminal search, sex offender registry, and county searches for the last 7 years.
• Employment and work history verification covering 7 years.
• Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor).

Scheduling & Other Notes

• Schedule follows a 36/48 hour pattern over a two-week pay period.
• Driver’s license required for submission.
• Candidates cannot be submitted to more than one job at a time.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
• Must comply with state-specific background checks and registries as applicable.
• Fit testing for masks completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated.
• Must be willing to float within scope of practice.
