Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 9 Trauma: 45-bed medical/surgical unit focused on trauma patients who are hemodynamically and medically stable.
- Fast-paced specialty medical/surgical unit caring for patients admitted from the emergency department, ICU transfers, or surgical/procedural services.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).
Schedule & Shift Options
- 36 or 48-hour shift options available.
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 in a 4-week period.
- Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday; weekend nights: Friday and Saturday nights.
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Floating
- Travelers are first to float and must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs.
- Floating may include various units such as medical/surgical floors, neuro, observation, and specialty units.
Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nebraska
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least 2 years in a large, urban hospital
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Trauma experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP certification
Licensure
- Pending licenses accepted if not in hand at time of application, but booking will be delayed by six weeks.
- Locals not accepted; candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility.
Facility & Work Environment
- 100% nicotine-free facility.
- Scrubs required: Steele gray scrubs (facility-branded) must be worn.
- Parking permits available for a monthly fee or daily parking options.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including federal enhanced search and checks for various offenses.
- Ongoing monthly SAM and OIG checks required.
- Education verification and primary source license verification required.
- Various certifications and competencies may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification).
- Health documents required: physical exam, fit test for masks, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella), TB testing, drug screening, flu vaccination documentation preferred.
- COVID vaccination preferred; exemptions accepted.
- Annual skills checklist and references from work within the past 2 years required.
- State-specific registry checks required prior to start.
