Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience for a travel contract position. The role primarily involves working in Labor & Delivery (L&D), NICU, or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) settings with floating responsibilities in PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care.
Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
- Every other weekend required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- L&D experience
- Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
Additional Requirements
- Must provide written confirmation of comfort with every other weekend scheduling
- First-time travelers accepted
- Completion of mandatory facility-specific RRT modules prior to orientation (21 modules covering safety, compliance, infection prevention, hazardous drugs, patient identification, and pediatric/NICU safety)
- Background checks, education verification, and various health documents required (see below)
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine preferred but not required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with minimum 100% score
Documentation and Verification
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and education verification
- Employment application with full work history and explanation of any gaps over 30 days
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency
Notes
- Indiana RN license holders are restricted from working at this facility effective 11/30/2024, with exceptions for perioperative and ambulatory RNs (not applicable to this RRT role)
- On-site fit testing is limited and must be facility approved prior to start
- Candidates must complete all required modules and documentation prior to orientation to avoid delays or cancellation
