Job Description
- Day/Evening rotating nurse position with a combination of 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week
- Shift options include:
- 06:30 - 17:00
- 06:30 - 19:00
- 10:30 - 20:30
- Schedule may include:
- Four 10-hour shifts
- Five 8-hour shifts
- Two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts
- Call responsibilities as needed, typically scheduled in 2-3 calls per 4-week period, including evening, night, and weekend shifts
- Preferred experience in neuro, thoracic, ENT, ortho, general, plastics, urology, GU/GYN, free flaps, robotics (Da-Vinci), and oncology
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years Operating Room (OR) experience
- Oncology experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- Experience with circulating and scrubbing in the operating room
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system
- Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or experience
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM)
- State RN license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for RN license
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and annually thereafter
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background, FBI/BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific), EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Physical exam documentation within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, compliance, and fraud/waste/abuse policies
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Fingerprinting must be completed using Ohio BCI & FBI codes with results obtained prior to start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days or results are older than 1 year
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care in a day/evening rotating schedule in the operating room
- Assist with circulating and scrubbing during surgical procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records using EPIC
- Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
This position requires a full-time commitment and flexibility with shift scheduling and call duties. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
