Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Beckley, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Requires 2+ years of current experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units.
• Patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6, may fluctuate with census and call-ins.
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred.
• Must float within scope of practice.
• Every other weekend shift required.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in West Virginia.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units, with experience within the last year.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Schedule

• 36 hours worked over 48 hours pay period (typical schedule).
• Every other weekend required.

Required Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI)
• ACLS (AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required except for Psych, OR, Rehab, and true Med Surg)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Health & Background Requirements

• Annual physical exam or physician note stating clearance to work without restrictions.
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted).
• Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific panel required).
• Background checks including national criminal search, sex offender registry, and others as required.
• Work history verification covering 7 years.
• Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor).

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
• PAPRs (Powered Air Purifying Respirators) cannot be accommodated.
• Religious or medical exemptions for mask fit testing and flu vaccine can be reviewed onsite.
• Candidates must not be submitted to more than one job at a time.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong Medical/Surgical and Telemetry skills who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts.
